Christmas is in the air at farm shop, deli and gift hall, Loch Leven’s Larder, together with its design and homeware store,1848, as the first details of the 2026 festive events schedule are announced.
Each of wreath class still has availability, with the dates/times as follows:
Friday 27th November, 10.30am to 12pm
Thursday 3rd December, 6pm to 8.30pm
Friday 4th December, 10.30am to 12pm
Held in the Channel Studio, founder and inspirational Managing Director of Loch Leven’s Larder, Emma Niven, will host the session, together with Head of Retail, Katie Park, who due to her talent for making fantastic bows to adorn the wreaths, is known as “Queen of Bows.”
Participants can look forward to using natural materials sourced from the Larder’s very own Sensory Garden, which, as Emma explains, was planted out to be a productive garden, as well as one that is beautiful and immersive: “My love of flowers, foliage and, particularly, Christmas, has always been deeply rooted in my mum, who was a florist and demonstrator. She passed on to me, not only her knowledge and skills, but a real love for the creativity and magic of working with flowers and seasonal materials.”
Emma continued by saying that her mother’s influence was very much part of the thinking behind her design for the Larder’s sensory garden, and wider planting programme.
“I deliberately selected plants such as eucalyptus, holly, fir and sea holly (Echinops Thistles), so that the garden could provide fantastic decorative material. We can now source all of our own greenery for wreath making directly from the Larder and farm, bringing my original planting vision full circle, and creating something particularly special at Christmas.”
“Katie’s incredible talent for making bows for your wreath is the perfect finishing touch,” said Emma.
A Christmas launch event, providing a first glimpse of the decorative festive themes that are set to trend this year, will be held on Thursday, the 8th of October, (5-9.30pm), with a special supper menu running in The Larder Café, so that those attending can make a night of it, if they wish.
One aspect of the Christmas Launch Night is to debut new products and ranges for the Christmas table, with burgundy stripes, a rich, timeless and beautifully festive theme which will perfectly enhance your home, forming one of the key trends for Christmas 2026.
Additionally, the night showcases top gifting ideas from the finest artisan producers at home and abroad, including a Panettone Palace, together with other delicious food & drink gifts to choose from.
Emma paid tribute to her hard-working and knowledgeable team of retail experts who put their all into the festive season, ensuring that the Larder and 1848 have one of the best selections of products across Perthshire.
“We have Emma McCallum, who is the Head of our expansive Food & Drink Hall. Each festive season she aims to bring fresh and inspiring products to the Hall which can be enjoyed over the festive period, or gifted to others. She also oversees our incredible range of hampers which are available at all price points,” said Emma.
“Teresa Geissler is the manager of 1848, and can expertly advise on adding very special pieces of furniture, lighting and accessories to a room. With regularly changing displays in 1848, Theresa loves customers to browse and have a chat about the products. She offers personal shopping appointments too.”
Emma finished by saying that the Festive Launch Night offered an opportunity to relax and enjoy a meal.
“Brian Padmore, our Head Chef, is another key member of the team,” she said. “He has devised a delicious menu for the evening, should you wish to come with a few friends or relatives and treat yourselves. Dishes include winter squash soup with sour cream, pine nuts and sage, yellow Thai monkfish & spinach curry with sticky rice and crispy onions, roast corn-fed chicken breast with peppery kale, confit onion fondant potato, & red wine gravy, and for dessert, dark chocolate delice with Chantilly cream & mulled berries, or roasted plums with a pecan crumb & vanilla ice cream.”
Loch Leven’s Larder Christmas Wreath Making Session costs £75pp. Refreshments are included, along with a festive sweet treat or mince pie to enjoy.
The Christmas Launch Night 2026 runs from 5pm til 9pm, on Thursday 8th October, and is free to attend with no booking required.
