Cast announced for The Wizard Of Oz - the musical
We are delighted to reveal the cast for our festive musical The Wizard Of Oz which opens Friday, 23 November, 7pm. The 14-strong cast herald from film, TV and stage, and hail from far and wide: from the USA and Iceland to London, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Rachel Flynn picks up the iconic role of Dorothy having flexed her leading lady vocals in musical theatre productions such as Cinderella and Fame.
The rest of her Yellow Brick Road Gang are: Daniel Bailey who plays The Scarecrow, Will Knights who plays The Tin Man and Marc Akinfolarin who is cast in the role of The Cowardly Lion. Their impressive, collective West End credits include The Lion King, Wicked, Mamma Mia! Motown: The Musical, and Spamalot!
The Wicked Witch of The West blows in on an arctic wind - from Iceland! Camille Marmié brings brilliant experience from performing Shakespeare and Fringe theatre to working for the Icelandic National Broadcasting service.
Having performed everywhere from Broadway to Las Vegas via Japan and London’s West End, in musicals such as The Phantom Of The Opera and Chess, Sarah Galbraith whirls into Pitlochry to play the role of Glinda.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is played by Crawford Logan, a familiar voice from BBC Radio 4. He makes a welcome return to Pitlochry having memorably performed in the superb The Flouers O’ Edinburghalongside Martyn James in 2007.
Nigel Lister is another familiar face from television including The Crown, EastEnders and The Bill. He plays Dorothy’s Uncle Henry.
Wade Lewin and David McIntosh join the cast fresh from various film sets. Wade has just finished shooting Aladdin which is due for release next May by Walt Disney Pictures, Rocketman - the upcoming Elton John, fantasy biopic, also due for release next May, by Paramount Pictures, while David can be seen in the current cinema smash hit The Nutcracker And The Four Realms.
Playing an eclectic mix of colourful characters Matt Jones, Scarlett Maltman, Miranda Menzies and Beverley Grant make up the full troupe for this live spectacular. Matt’s West End credits include Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and We Will Rock You, as well as dancing on Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor. Scarlett has performed with The Australian Shakespeare Company, and will be introducing puppetry to this fun-filled production.
Miranda and Beverley are aerial and acrobatic performers. Miranda has performed alongside Katherine Jenkins at The Royal Albert Hall, while Beverley has trained with Ballet Rambert and was awarded a BBC Performing Arts Fellowship.
