Glenalmond College Invitation to Annual Choral Day Service

Over 100 pupils from junior schools around Scotland and the north of England will be gathering at Glenalmond College for its annual Choral Day celebration of song next Sunday, October 13th.

The pupils from schools including Mowden Hall (Northumberland), Ardvreck (Crieff), Cargilfield (Edinburgh) and Belhaven Hill (Dunbar) will be meeting at Glenalmond for a day of singing as well as a range of fun activities.

The day culminates with a Choral Day Service in Glenalmond Chapel, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, to which the families and friends of pupils, along with members of the local community, are invited.

Glenalmond College’s Director of Music, Dr Tim Ridley, said a very warm welcome would be extended to visitors to join in the service.

“The Choral Day Service is the finale to a day of singing when we are joined by junior pupils from schools in Perthshire and further afield.

“Our music will include anthems by John Ireland, Bob Chilcott and Herbert Howells, in addition to a rarely-performed arrangement of a Hebridean song and a traditional spiritual song,” said Dr Ridley.

Attendance at the hour-long Service is free but visitors who plan to come along are asked to register at www.eventbrite.co.uk.
