Atholl Estates has announced that its chosen Charity of the Year 2026 is Perth-based Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).

The charity, launched in 2013, aims to make life-saving emergency care accessible to everybody, no matter how remote their location in Scotland. It will now benefit from the estate’s annual Charity Day, to be held in June, along with other fundraising opportunities which will take place throughout the summer.

“We are pleased to announce this year’s chosen charity. The SCAA are the nation’s only charity air ambulance service, playing a crucial role in responding to life-threatening accidents and medical emergencies across Scotland,” said Jess Reid, Marketing Manager for Atholl Estates.

“We’d like to thank Claire Mitchell, SCAA Community Fundraiser for coming along to the castle to meet us. We look forward to working with them this year to understand more about their work, and how fundraising can help them.”

Operating two helicopter air ambulances from bases in Perth and Aberdeen, SCAA has a crew of highly skilled and experienced paramedics and pilots, backed up with two rapid response vehicles. It works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service as part of Scotland's emergency response network, covering over 30,000 mi.²

Always well attended by local people from throughout the area, together with tourists and day trippers, Blair Castle‘s annual Charity Day sees the castle donate a day’s takings to its chosen charity.

“Atholl Estates has a proud legacy of partnering and supporting local charities that work within the hills, mountains, lochs and Munros of this part of Scotland,” said Andrew Bruce Wootton. “This is an environment that deserves respect. The selfless work of charities such as the SCAA ensure that more people can safely enjoy it, knowing that 24/7 skilled assistance is available should they need it, for whatever reason.”

“We'll get going straight away finding out what we can do to support the SCAA, and will look forward to this year’s Charity Day.”

Commenting from SCAA, Claire Mitchell, Community Fundraiser, said, “We are very grateful for the support of Atholl Estates, and are delighted they recognise the critical work we do in keeping people safe across the whole of Scotland, especially those in hard to reach areas.”

We look forward to forming a partnership with the estate in the coming months and, particularly, to attending their annual Charity Day, where we can spread more awareness of the vital role that SCAA does to ensure that no one in Scotland dies because help get can't get there in time."
