The Coupar Angus Hotel has launched a new menu, full of summery tastes and surprises.

With a wide ranging, all-day food menu, including a children’s menu, the Red House Hotel at Coupar Angus is a popular stop off when in the area for golf, walking, or other pursuits.

Its newly launched Summer Menu has all the usual “classics” for which the Hotel is known – Sticky Toffee Pudding, Fish and Chips, and Homemade Beefsteak Pie, to name but a few - but there’s also plenty of new taste sensations to try, if you fancy something different.

Tempting the tastebuds are a number of new starter options, including Haggis & Pulled Pork Scotch Egg, Smoked Mackerel & Lime Pate, and Stornoway Black Pudding & Smoked Haddock, which is served with a leek and garlic sauce, and topped with a perfectly poached egg.

New main course choices to try include Chicken Schnitzel, Chinese Style Pork Loin, Butternut Squash & Spinach Curry, and Flat Iron Steak with Chimichurri.

When it comes to dessert, Head Chef, Dave McConnachie, loves to prepare his sweet dishes from scratch, showing real flair and imagination, with choices including Kahlua & Dark Chocolate Cheesecake, Rhubarb & Ginger Frangipane, and indulgent Chocolate Brownie Truffle Torte.

“This is an imaginative, locally sourced, summer menu which we hope will be very popular with our clientele. It’s got something for everyone, with plenty of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices too,” said Red House owner, Alan Bannerman.

“In the height of summer, you want fresh, light and delicious choices, and you want to taste the produce from the area – our fabulous vegetables, meat and game, not to mention our world famous Perthshire berries, which are showcased to perfection in our classic Lemon Meringue Pie, which is served with both a raspberry sorbet, and a raspberry meringue crunch.”

“It’s exciting to try new burgers, such as the Southern Fried Chicken & Pulled Pork Burger we have added to the burger menu, along with a Spinach & Chickpea one for vegetarians, which is also gluten free.”

Alan finished by saying: “The Red House Hotel is the ideal location for a relaxed chatty lunch, a Sunday meet up, an anniversary or birthday dinner, or a get together with a group or a club. We pride ourselves on our very warm welcome, and can guarantee our dining guests with the best of Perthshire on a plate!”
