Where to See Snowdrops in Perthshire

We love snowdrops, and we know we’re not alone. Even before flowering they are a first sight of fresh greenery to say that spring won’t be long now, and there’s something about their delicate white petals in the midst of winter snow, ice or rain that finds an echo in so many of us. We can’t help but be reminded of how it’s still possible to find joy despite adverse conditions.

It’s not surprising then, that snowdrop season is celebrated here in Scotland, where winter can seem very long by the time we get to February! The Scottish Snowdrop Festival is something we can all enjoy, but where are the best places to see this unassuming but extraordinary plant in Perthshire? Here are a few suggestions:

Branklyn Gardens, Perth

This peaceful garden on Kinnoull Hill overlooks Perth and features lots of rare plants, including many varieties of snowdrop. Although mostly closed in winter, it will open for the Snowdrop Festival on the 11th-15th February between 10am and 4pm, with the tearoom open between 10:30am and 3:30pm. Entry is £7.50 per adult. There are also some additional, ticketed, events taking place for those interested, and on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th there will be snowdrops available to purchase.

Scone Palace, Perth

Scone Palace is holding its special annual Snowdrop Day on the 21st February, 10am - 3pm. The day features a way-marked walk around the grounds, plus the opportunity to join the garden team for some new planting, with a demonstration on how to increase your snowdrops at home. You’ll receive a few snowdrops as a gift and ore will be for sale in the gift shop. The coffee shop will be open if you need to warm up afterwards! Winter car parking costs £5.

Comrie Village

The village of Comrie is on a mission as Scotland’s first snowdrop village! The community-led project has already planted almost 20,000 snowdrops in Comrie, with more planned for 2026. The main sites at the moment are The War Memorial Garden, The White Church and The Lednock Millennium Footpath, which come together to create a circular trail suitable for all abilities.
