Families are invited to discover a different side of Blair Castle this Halloween, as its popular Legends of the Castle event returns for two evenings of spooky storytelling and after-dark exploration.

Following its debut last year, the event will once again invite visitors to explore the Castle’s corridors after dark, with spine-tingling tales inspired by some of its legendary characters from the past.

Taking place on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th October, from 5pm onwards, the event is suitable for children of all ages, with visitors encouraged to come dressed in their favourite Halloween costumes. Each tour lasts approximately 30 minutes, with the final tour starting at 6.30pm.

Following their tour, families can enjoy homemade pizza, fries and drinks in the castle’s Tullibardine Restaurant.

Tickets are priced from £5 for adults and £8 for children. A child’s tour with pizza and fries costs £15 (ages 5 to 16), while an adult tour with pizza and fries costs £15. Under-5s go free.

“Legends of the Castle proved very popular with family visitors when we introduced it last year, so we are delighted to be bringing it back for Halloween,” said Kirsty McConnell, Marketing Manager for Atholl Estates. “It was also a great opportunity for our Castle Guides to bring some of the Castle’s characters to life, with Maids, Butlers, Dukes and Duchesses taking on their roles for the evening.

“With so much history and heritage within the Castle, there is plenty to draw on when it comes to costumes and stories. Halloween is a lovely opportunity to explore some of these fascinating characters and tales in a slightly different way.”

Kirsty continued: “Blair Castle has a wonderful atmosphere after dark. The narrow passageways lined with stag antlers, winding staircases, portraits and historic interiors all take on a different character in the evening, making it a natural setting for Halloween storytelling.

“While there are some spooky moments, Legends of the Castle is designed to be an enjoyable experience for the whole family rather than a frightening one, so younger children are very welcome too.”

Tickets for Legends of the Castle can be booked at Legends of the Castle.

Families visiting Blair Castle during October school holidays can also take part in the Halloween Activity Trail, which is free with a regular Castle entry ticket. Visitors can search for hidden broomsticks inside the Castle’s rooms, as well as spooky objects dotted around the grounds. Those who complete the trail’s activity sheet can collect a small prize from the gift shop.
