Blair Castle is looking forward to welcoming the Scottish Chamber Orchestra to its beautiful ballroom on Friday 3rd July.
The performance forms part of the SCO’s annual summer tour, which presents world-class classical performances across the length and breadth of Scotland. Performing a live programme of classical favourites, named the SCO’s Highland Classics, with its usual virtuosic flair, the orchestra, under the dynamic direction of Principal Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, will commence its show at 730pm.
Opening with Mozart’s Symphony No.20, the concert will see Flute soloists, André Cebrián and Marta Gómez, take centre stage in Doppler’s Double Flute Concerto, before a thrilling curtain-raiser to one of opera’s darkest masterpieces, Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni.
The evening concludes with Haydn’s Symphony No.94, the beloved ‘Surprise’, full of wit, invention, and, of course, a famous jolt that never fails to delight.
“It’s always an absolute privilege to welcome the Scottish Chamber Orchestra to the Castle,” said Jess Reid, Marketing Manager for Atholl Estates.
“Highland Classics offers a joyful celebration of the classical tradition, performed with the Orchestra’s trademark vitality and finesse – all in the most spectacular of settings.”
“We are pleased to announce that we’re enhancing the evening with pre-concert dining available in the Tullibardine Restaurant, which will serve a two course meal showcasing local ingredients,” added Jess. “We are aware that some of those coming to the performance may wish to make a night of it by having dinner here too. You can pre-book your meal, and we will contact you to confirm your menu choices.”
Gavin Reid, Chief Executive of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra said: “The Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s annual Summer Tour is a cornerstone of the orchestra’s work, and we are delighted to be bringing world-class music to 26 towns and cities across Scotland this year. From full orchestral performances under Maxim Emelyanychev and our distinguished guest conductors, to chamber concerts, choral performances and creative learning events, this tour places our musicians at the heart of communities across the country, and we can’t wait to perform in the beautiful surroundings of Blair Castle.”
Tickets for the performance are available from the SCO website at https://www.sco.org.uk/summer-tour/
