The Dalmore Inn in Blairgowrie is celebrating one of its longest standing partner relationships, which has seen Perth based Blendly Coffee supply it with a delicious bespoke coffee blend for the past nine years.
A dark Italian espresso, the coffee is a blend of Brazilian Santos beans with Colombian Excelso beans and Ugandan Robusta beans. The grind is whole bean, whilst the roast is dark Italian. It’s one of a number of bespoke coffees that Blendly facilitates for hospitality businesses of all sizes.
“Rather than asking businesses to buy someone else's coffee brand, Blendly helps customers create their own, said Mark Wilson, the entrepreneur, and ‘Head of Commercial Coffee Marketplace’, behind the business. “We’re celebrating ten years of being in business, having started in 2016 with a simple goal: helping hospitality businesses serve better coffee.”
“Today, we’ve evolved far beyond traditional coffee roasting, now working with hotels, hotel groups, restaurants, pubs, cafés, coffee chains, garden centres, visitor attractions, leisure operators and public sector organisations. We help them create their own coffee identity while improving sustainability, operational efficiency and customer value,” Mark added.
“One of our longest-standing relationships is with The Dalmore Inn, where we have worked together for nine years, developing and supplying this bespoke coffee blend. Partnerships like this demonstrate our belief that coffee should become part of a venue's identity and customer experience rather than simply another product purchased from a supplier.”
Working with Blendly’s extensive roasting and sourcing network, businesses can develop a bespoke coffee blend that reflects their own values, customer profile and brand identity. This allows them to offer a unique product that customers cannot find elsewhere.
Mark went on to say that he was, “extremely pleased that Dalmore Inn customers enjoy our coffee. I’m delighted to hear that as well as being offering in lattes, cappuccinos, and americanos, it also occasionally features on the menu in desserts created by The Dalmore’s pastry chefs, namely tempting tiramisu, coffee mousse, and the current special, homemade milk ice cream affogato, sprinkled with roasted pistachios. It sounds absolutely delicious!”
“I remember when Dalmore Inn owner Alan Bannerman first approached me, saying he was interested in his own blend for the restaurant,” said Mark. “We worked together to come up with something which hit the flavour profile he had in mind, a robust, full bodied Italian style coffee that would cater for customers in for coffee and cake, whilst also being the ideal post meal accompaniment. We settled on expertly blending the Brazilian Santos beans with Colombian Excelso beans and the Ugandan Robusta beans. It’s not just the mix of beans, the level of roast and grind are also key to creating the final coffee.”
Commenting on the enduring relationship with Blendly Coffee, Arnaud Merrouche, General Manager of The Dalmore Inn, said: “Blendly Coffee has, and continues to be, a fantastic supplier, bringing us fresh, ready to use coffee in packaging which carries our own business name. Nine years is a long time, so we thought it was worth recognition, and would additionally like to congratulate Mark on ten years in business, a time which has seen many challenges, not least the Covid pandemic.”
“Christine, our new pastry chef, who came back to the business recently, has loved experimenting with the coffee in her desserts, coming up with the current special of milk ice cream affogato. However it’s used, this coffee is an absolute winner which we are proud to serve at The Dalmore Inn.”
“As Mark always tells us, coffee is no longer just a beverage. It has become part of a business's identity, customer experience and growth strategy,” finished Arnaud.
