AD | Oakbank Care Home in Crieff Celebrates 1st Birthday with Community Garden Party
Oakbank Care Home in Crieff proudly marked its first anniversary on Thursday 24th July 2025, celebrating a successful year since opening its doors to residents and the local community. Over the past 12 months, Oakbank has quickly built a reputation as one of the leading care homes in the region, offering exceptional residential, nursing, and dementia care for the elderly.
To celebrate the milestone, the home hosted a joyful garden party filled with music, laughter, and community spirit. Set against the backdrop of Oakbank’s beautifully landscaped gardens, the event welcomed residents, staff, families, and special guests, including Stephen Leckie, Lord Lieutenant of Perth & Kinross, who officially cut the ribbon to commemorate the home’s opening. In his speech, Lord Lieutenant Leckie praised the care home’s remarkable progress and thanked everyone for their contribution to making Oakbank a cherished part of the local community.
Guests enjoyed a traditional High Tea and sparkling Prosecco, while Social and Cocktail Events delighted attendees with complimentary cocktails and mocktails served from their stylish mobile bar. A stunning, custom-decorated cake was provided by Celebration Cakes in Perth, serving as the centrepiece of the party.
The entertainment was a particular highlight of the day, with Janet Gibson performing a lively and inclusive set, singing songs that appealed to all age groups and musical tastes. Joining in the festivities were the Crieff Brownies, aged 5–9, who danced and sang alongside residents, spreading youthful energy and joy throughout the garden.
Adding to the magic of the day were special appearances from The Wee Ponies of Comrie, whose adorable miniature ponies brought smiles to residents and visitors alike. Stanley, the friendly Irish Terrier who regularly visits the home as part of a community pet adoption initiative, was also a star guest, enjoying the celebrations with his usual wagging enthusiasm.
Home Manager, Margaret Ann Gavin, reflected on the milestone:
“It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed since Oakbank Care Home opened. I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved in such a short time. We are fortunate to have such wonderful residents and families who support us, and I’m truly grateful to our dedicated team who go above and beyond every day to provide the highest standard of care.”
She continued:
“It’s a privilege to welcome residents into Oakbank and to help create a home-from-home environment where they feel safe, supported and valued. Our approach is always centred on enabling residents to live meaningful and fulfilling lives, and we’re excited to continue this journey in the years ahead.”
Among those celebrating was Agnes Scorgie, aged 94, who became a resident in September 2024.
“What a wonderful day, so well organised and it was a joy to be with my son celebrating this special day.”
The anniversary event also recognised the dedication of 14 original team members who have been with Oakbank since its opening, now joined by new colleagues as the home continues to grow and evolve.
The team at Oakbank Care Home remains committed to serving the Crieff community with the best care alongside warmth, professionalism and heart, building on a strong foundation for many more years to come.
