The Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus, the town’s last remaining hotel, has installed four EV charging stations in its sizeable car park, which is situated at the front of the building.

Having received a 100% grant from the Energy Saving Trust’s rural grant programme, hotel owner, Alan Bannerman, whose family have run the hotel for over forty years, explained that he was very pleased to be offering use of the stations to the increasing amount of hotel guests, golfers, and day visitors using electric vehicles.

“We have plenty of room for these charging points in our free to use carpark, and you don’t have to be a hotel resident to use them. If you are in for a meal or a coffee and you want to charge your vehicle at the same time, please for so,” he said. “We’re confident that they will be very well used in the coming months, as we approach spring and summer. It’s making us a more sustainable business too, which is always a good thing.”

“We decided to apply for the funding as some guests had been asking if we were going to add EV points to the car park. They are easy and convenient to use, with clear instructions on site.”

Alan finished by saying that he was keen to thank David Stoddart at Connektcharging.com, the business which has facilitated the process.

“David and his team have done a great job, not only installing the points, but providing us with plenty of information on how the scheme operates, with all our monthly and annual fees built into a contract. Everything is covered through charger revenue with no ongoing expenses for us at all.”

Commenting from Connekt, David Stoddart said: “We’re proud to support the Red House Hotel with EV charging that benefits both their guests and the local rural community. Destination charging is quickly becoming an expectation for hospitality venues, and the Red House Hotel has taken a proactive step by installing EV chargers through the Energy Saving Trust’s rural grant programme. This project supports hotel guests, local residents and the wider rural community, particularly those without access to home charging, while also creating a new income opportunity for the hotel.”

“At Connekt, we specialise in commercial EV charging solutions that remove range anxiety for drivers while remaining simple for venues to operate. With 24/7, 365 support in place, we ensure a seamless experience for both guests and hotel staff from day one,” finished David.
